The Jefferson Rehabilitation Center supports the philosophy of Self-Advocacy. self-Advocacy is persons with developmental disabilities speaking and acting on behalf of their own rights. people with disabilities have always heard others speak for them. That is changing as people with disabilities world wide, are learning to be Self-Advocates. The motto of the Self-Advocacy movement is "Nothing About Us, Without Us". In addition to the Advisory Boards formed by participants in the Day Treatment, Residential, and Vocational Training Programs, the JRC Supports the efforts of the North Country Self-Advocates. The North Country Self-Advocates are a self-advocacy group affiliated with the New York State Self-Advocacy Association, and open to anyone in the community wishing to learn about and participate in Self-Advocacy. Meetings are held on the third Friday of ever month.
